Dave Chenot

Dave Chenot, PHD 

Co-Program Director

David Chenot Ph.D, M.Div., LCSW, is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Social Work at California State University Fullerton. Formerly, he was the chair of the department and director of the MSW program for several years. Dr. Chenot is the principal investigator, (with Co-PI, Dr. Cynthia Greenberg, Dean of the College of Health and Human Development) of the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) at CSUF. He has authored several publications on the child welfare workforce, organizational dynamics, and spirituality, religion and social work. Dr. Chenot’s career as a social worker spans more than 35-years. He was a social work practitioner in both, public child welfare services and public mental health settings prior to serving in academia for the past 20-years.

Kristal Ly, MC

Program Manager

Kristal Ly (she/her/hers) joined the Allied Health Academy Health Careers Opportunity Program as Program Manager in June 2021. She oversees the Allied Health Academy Pipeline Programs that serves students from high school, community college, undergraduate school, and graduate school who are pursuing a career in the allied health professions. Her responsibilities also include developing and managing the Allied Health Academy programs at California State University, Fullerton including the Undergraduate Trainee Program, Summer Research Experience Program, Pre-Matriculation Program, and the Graduate Student Ambassador Program. Kristal earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Social Behavior at University of California, Irvine and earned her Master's of Counseling at Arizona State University. She is passionate in leadership development and mentoring students to become successful individuals. In her free time, Kristal enjoys eating good food, decorating for the holidays, and playing video games. She is also a Disney-fanatic who enjoys trading pins and college Dumbo items.

John Pineda, MPH

Program Assistant

John Pineda earned his Master of Public Health in health promotion and disease prevention from Cal State Fullerton in 2018 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health with an emphasis in community health from Cal State Los Angeles in 2015. He currently works at CSUF as a Program Assistant for Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) where he is responsible for interacting among Undergraduate Trainees and Graduate Student Ambassadors.  He is also a part-time faculty in the Department of Human Services, teaching undergraduates in courses such as Research Methods, Grant Writing, and Program Evaluation. During his spare time, he does wedding and graduation photography and detailing vehicles.

Lannee Tang, MSW, LCSW

Student Case Manager

Lannee Tang earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF). She currently works full-time as a renal social worker at Fresenius Kidney Care helping individuals with chronic kidney disease, and part-time as one of the case managers for Allied Health Academy: Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) II. As a case manager for HCOP II, she meets with Undergrad Trainees and Graduate Student Ambassadors on a monthly basis to track academic progress, refer students to appropriate resources, and provide support as students navigate through higher education. Some of her achievements include serving as CSUF MSW’s club Master of Social Work Association (MSWA) President and was the recipient of Department of Sociology Most Inspirational Award during her undergraduate studies. She is a dog mum of 3 boys, loves spending time with her loved ones, can always go out for a night of dancing, and does calligraphy as a hobby.

Jennifer Lopez, MSW, LCSW

Student Case Manager

Jennifer Lopez earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Cal Poly Pomona and her Master of Social Work (MSW) with an emphasis in Aging at Cal State Fullerton. She currently works at the Loma Linda VA Health Care System as a HUD/VASH Social Worker. Her primary role is to provide clinically intensive case management to homeless veterans. Jennifer is trained in trauma informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy- substance use disorders, and motivational interviewing. She also has been certified in Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMH-I). Jennifer has prior experience working in the nonprofit sector at the YWCA Senior Services. She currently works as a part time case manager for the Allied Health Academy: Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) II. Her role as a case manager includes meeting with Undergraduate Trainees and Graduate Student Ambassadors on a monthly basis to ensure academic success as first generation students navigate their way through higher education. When she is not working, Jennifer enjoys traveling, reading, running and going hiking. She loves to travel to other countries to engulf herself in the culture by the way of food. She says, "What better way of learning about a new culture than through their food!"
